The Gombe State Commissioner for Works, Housing, and Transportation, Engineer Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, alongside the State Project Coordinator of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), Engineer Salisu Abdullahi, has officially flagged off the payment of compensation to property owners affected by rural road construction in Yamaltu-Deba and Kwami Local Government Areas.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held at the District Head Palaces of Waɗe, Ɗukul, and Kiyari, the Commissioner emphasized Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s commitment to enhancing rural infrastructure. Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Idris Yambiu Buba, the Commissioner expressed gratitude to the governor for approving the RAAMP project, which directly impacts the lives of benefiting communities.
He reiterated the project’s objectives of opening up grassroots communities, improving the standard of living, and enhancing economic opportunities. “Our governor is a man of the people and always prioritizes their needs, which is why he approved these vital projects to help local farmers access their farms and transport their produce with ease, ensuring food security,” the Commissioner stated.
He also commended the property owners for their cooperation and willingness to surrender their properties for development, even before receiving compensation.
In their remarks, the Chairman of Yamaltu-Deba Local Government, Alhaji Abubakar Hassan Ɗifa, and the Chairman of Kwami Local Government, Dr. Ahmad Wali Doho (represented by his deputy, Alhaji Ɗahiru Ajiya), expressed appreciation to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for approving the project and compensation payments. They pledged their full support for his administration.
Earlier, the State Project Coordinator of RAAMP, Engineer Salisu Abdullahi, highlighted Governor Yahaya’s dedication to rural transformation. He revealed that five rural roads, connecting several agrarian communities, totaling 77 kilometers, have been approved by the governor across the state.
“I want to thank His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for embracing the RAAMP program, bringing much-needed development to the state,” said Engineer Abdullahi.
He explained that RAAMP, supported by the World Bank, aims to improve rural access to markets, facilitating easier transportation of agricultural produce and ensuring better management of rural road networks.
In their votes of thanks, the District Heads of Waɗe, Ɗukul, and Malam Sidi, represented by Alhaji Abdullahi Malumta, expressed their appreciation for the leadership of Governor Yahaya.
The roads to be constructed include Waɗe to Garin Ƙoshi to Kubu Road and Kurjele to Garin Bawa Road in Yamaltu-Deba Local Government, as well as Ɗukul to Gafara to Gasel to Shanin Fulani to Shanin Tera Road, and Kiyari to Yame to Gadam Road in Kwami Local Government.
